Symsites at the 10th European Conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns
Symsites took part in the 10th European Conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns, held in Aalborg, Denmark, from October 1-3, 2024.

The event, organised by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, drew hundreds of participants to discuss solutions for building sustainable, resilient cities. It provided a valuable platform to engage with local governments, sustainability experts, researchers and organisations seeking to contribute to the sustainable transformation of European cities and regions.
As a project focused on changing the way municipalities manage waste, ICLEI disseminated SYMSITES at their dedicated stand and explained how Industrial-Urban Symbiosis can benefit cities and towns in different countries.
In particular, Aisling Connolly, Circular Economy Expert at ICLEI Europe, launched the briefing note “Enhancing Industrial-Urban Symbiosis at the Local Scale” on Tuesday 1 October.
The speech provided local and regional authorities with insights on how to support the development of Industrial-Urban Symbiosis initiatives in their territory, through case studies and experience sharing.
The briefing note is available online and can be downloaded from the official website of ICLEI Europe.
