Circular Economy and Environmental Education in Spanish Schools with Symsites
The public schools of Bracal and Montcabrer, in Muro de Alcoy, are embracing an environmental-friendly approach thanks to the collaboration between FOVASA, FACSA, Serunión and the city council of Muro de Alcoy, Spain.
Organic waste to foster circular economy
From now on, both schools will benefit from new containers for the collection of organic waste. In this way, the organic fraction produced here will be collected and brought to the Alcoy Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Here, the Ecosite developed by SYMSITES will transform it into new resources.
Environmental education for a sustainable culture
The initiative not only helps in managing waste efficiently, but also promotes a sustainable culture within the school community.
Students could benefit from practical and participatory learning activities, videos and games to encourage recycling and discover the potential of waste for the environment.
Promoting Urban-Industrial Symbiosis
The synergy between municipalities, companies and schools can prove the impact of industrial-urban symbiosis, by successfully showing how communities and industries can work together to address environmental challenges.
